After receiving back you portfolio comments and completing your third essay, what research do you still need to gather from your project site to bring together your final project that will tell the story of this community?
After reading my comments and feedback from portfolio. I noticed that I am mostly missing a little bit more of the culture and history of my site. I did well with the descriptions and detail, but I think I should incorporate more of that cultural substance that the site needs and get some more answers to the why's and the how's of my site. Also a comparison to sites similar to mine and why mine is the way it is.
After reading the comments from my portfolio, I now know that I have to describe the people and what they do better. I have to look for patterns and routines so that my audience can understand and connect with the community I am researching. I have go back to my site and observe so I can gain more information so I do not have to go over every little detail.
I think I need to do the same. I focused more on the space than on including details of the characters and their routines. I think that going back to further explore that aspect will definitely happen for me as well.
After reading the comments for my portfolio, I now know that I need to dig deeper into the people I am interviewing and expand on the ideas and answers they gave. I also need to focus on organization and description about the community and the people I am researching. I have to go back to my site and do more observing of the community as a whole and what it means to work there
I had the same problem where it seemed like I was focused on a couple individuals compared to the numerous people that work there as a whole. Observing the location as a whole is going to help understand your location more and provide more relevant details for your paper
After reading the comments on my portfolio, i mostly need to focus on interaction of the people working. I focussed too much on the space. My main theme of my research is how the fire station is like a family and i believe that i need to observe how they all interact with each other to prove how they act like a family.
I focused on my space a lot as well and yes if you observe the people in the fire place and how one another reacts you can get a lot of notes and visuals from it.
After reading the comments on my portfolio, i need to focus more on people observations and more observations on activities that go on in the school. I tried to focus on the school as a whole but that took away focus on what goes on in an individual classroom. I think if i explain more on what goes on with the individual people atthis sight it will bring my paper together.
After reviewing the comments on my portfolio I have an important aspect I still need to conduct at my site. This aspect is to explain the different types of people that enter the Brockton District Courthouse. I think I do a thorough job giving describing specific people but I need to explain the majority of the people entering the courthouse. I will visit my site at least one more time to gain more evidence in the types of people. If I discover the majority of the people attending the Brockton District Courthouse it will contribute to my research and bring me closer to completing the story of this community.
After reviewing the feedback I received on my portfolio, I need to describe the people, the customers, that are at my site. In order to tell the story of this community I should set an another interview and observe to gain more information about the business, owners and customers.
After receiving my portfolio back, I noticed that I was on the right track and was ahead of the game on the interview, but I still had to catch up and explain more on my observations of the interview and the place I toured. I wasn't overly specific on everything and just gave a general description and I should give more of a specific detail of the place. However I plan on visiting my place one more time to get an insight of what other people play in a role here at the airport and adding more details hopefully completing my story.
I read over the notes giving to me about my portfolio and found out i need to work on details. Which is the most important thing in this paper, I didn't get in to detail on the data I collected about the site, and the people in it. i kept everything too general. Then I needed to focus on the breaks and not sticking all my ideas into one paragraph.
It's a good idea to add as much detail as you can but make sure it is all relevant to what you're talking about. You don't want to be too general because then the person reading may become confused on what exactly you are referring to.
For my project, I still need to gather information about the staff and the patients that work at and go to my project site. I think that I focused more on the place and less of the people that go there. It is important to give information about the people to better understand the purpose of the place and why is it important to this community.

For my portfolio, i need to focus more on explaining the people that are surrounding me. I talk more about the space rather than people. For my second essay i have this huge paragraph about this one space and i need to shorting it and find other details or important things for my essays.

I think what I need to do is make sure that I really describe the people I am focusing on in a little more detail to give the reader a better visual. Also I need to reorganize the layout of my writing (such as placing site description before the "what's happening"). I would also like to focus on redundancy. I think I return to some topics unnecessarily sometimes.
Describing the people is so important, even if you just choose a few of the most important people. It makes it so much easier for the reader to picture the place in their mind with people since they would be described so well. Also, I do agree that the description of the place should be first, but those two subjects could also be combined. Just an idea!
I am the complete opposite. I tend to add a ton of detail and it ultimetly ends up being a little too much and makes my writing see confusing at times. If you can find that happy medium .. Not too little but not going overboard with the details the person reading will know exactly what you're describing.

From the looks of it, we're in the same boat. I also feel like I don't have any other information I need to gather. I can confidently say my essays are well written, strong and detailed.

Based on my observations within my essays, I believe I did a splendid job in describing my surroundings, the people and what my community is about. Other than that, I made corrections on my annotated bibliography. Throughout the semester I've constantly made revisions over my essays. The only thing I think I need to work on is bringing more of the business aspect, from the employer that I interviewed, into my third essay. Other than that, I think I'm all set.
After getting back my midterm portfolio and looking through all of the feedback, comments, and suggestions, I have determined that one last visit to my location, the courthouse is necessary. As Professor Williams had mentioned, it is important to detect any patters within your location. In order to do so you need to be able to take the time and go a few times to be able to possibly determine what the cultures "norms" and be able to notice whether or not there are changes in the individuals, actions taking place. I'm going to head back for one last visit and compare and contrast from my last visit and see if I can figure out any patterns, changes and ultimately clarifying what this culture is all about.
